How they work
Electric or hydronic heating elements are installed beneath interlock, concrete or stone. Sensors detect snow and ice and activate the system automatically, melting precipitation before it accumulates.
Running costs
Because sensors only run the system during snow events, running costs stay reasonable. Sizing the system correctly to your electrical panel keeps it efficient.
When it makes sense
Retrofitting means lifting the surface, so a heated system is most cost-effective when planned with a new driveway or hardscape install. Sloped or shaded driveways benefit most.
The payoff
No shovelling, far less salt, and a much safer entrance all winter, especially valuable for steep driveways and anyone who would rather not clear snow by hand.
